Loving wife of 55 years to the late Lt Col Robert J LaVigne. Loving mother of Karen Colvin (William), grandmother of Scott Colvin (Amanda) and Mark Colvin (Jennifer), and great grandmother of Spencer, Eleanor, Liam and Delilah.
Shirley was the oldest of five daughters born to Corey and Minnie Hayward in Port Elgin, NB. She is survived by her sisters Lois Fagan-Young (Robert Fagan / Harris Young) and Wilna Miller (Robert), predeceased by her sisters Joan Patton (Edward) and Ruth Sprague (Charles).
She grew up in the Maritimes spending time in Halifax and Kentville. After WWII, she took a job in Montreal, met her husband Robert, initially settled in Hamilton, but soon after moved to Windsor, where they lived for 50 years and raised their daughter, Karen. Shirley moved to Milton, ON after the death of Robert to be near her daughter.
In keeping with Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will follow at a later date in Windsor, ON.
