OBITUARY

Verna Mae Murphy (nee Jarvis)

November 5, 1918November 2, 2020

Verna Mae Murphy passed away peacefully at Emmanuel House Hospice with her daughter Joan at her side 3 days before her 102nd Birthday. Verna lived a full and wonderful life. She was a loving wife and best friend to Glenn for 69 years. She was a devoted and caring mother and mother in law to Craig (Evelyn), Joy (Mike), Carol, Gay (Ari) and Joan (Mark).

Verna/Nana cherished and was so proud of her thirteen grandchildren. Nana also always enjoyed time spent with her ten great grandchildren. They brought her many smiles and much happiness. Verna will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews.

It is difficult to say goodbye to someone we love and cherish, but she will always remain with us in our hearts.

Verna was Predeceased by her husband Glenn (2011), her son Craig (2010) and her granddaughter Carly (1981)

Due to current public health concerns there will be a private family interment. In lieu of flowers donations to Emmanuel House Hospice or a charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated by the family.

Thank you to the staff of Emmanuel House Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Verna in her final days. Thank you to the Georgian Retirement Home workers who were so kind to Verna. And a special thank you to the amazing attention and care from Dr. Colin Stevenson, who was mom's family Doctor for many years.

My sincerest sympathies and condolences to the Murphy, Brophy, Ranta, and McKay families, for the loss of your Mom and Nana. I have always felt so lucky and honoured to have had both your Mom and Dad in my life. They were both such amazing, caring and loving friends to my parents also. I so cherish my memories of times spent all together at Ronville, Parry Sound, Florida, Mississauga and Hamilton. We all need to hold on to those memories of happy times, to comfort our broken hearts at this sad time. I hope to keep connected with your family and will look forward to warming our hearts and reminiscing about happy times together. I think your Mom and Dad would have really liked that.
Lots of love and hugs,
Nadine Williams-Winter

My fondest memory of Aunt Verna is her appreciation of being in a room, filled with her big family and just taking them all in and her commenting, I just love looking at all these beautiful people. That spell could be broken when one of her great grandchildren would come for a special hug and she would be arms wide open and attentive. Aunt Verna loved babies and was the most amazing woman at remembering birth dates. I enjoyed hearing stories from her adult grandchildren of how late they would stay up at the cottage playing scrabble together, and she was often... the winner. Her love of music, a good piano player and a singer with a beautiful voice is also another fond memory Her love and admiration of her family is ongoing in each of your hearts.
Our thoughts are with you in this difficult time.
