Edmund “Ed” Maynes, 75, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2019 at the Salmon Brook Rehab Facility in Glastonbury. Ed was born in Hartford on April 13, 1944, the son of the late Francis E. Maynes and Anna V. (Kazlauskas) Maynes. Ed was a graduate of UConn and fondly recalled those years playing guitar with the "Nite Caps". He was a devoted follower of UConn Men's and Ladies Basketball and especially loved his Boston Red Sox.
Ed leaves behind his beloved sister, Karen Futtner, as well as a niece, Karen Eagle and her husband Darrin of Springfield, MA, nephews, Blacey Futtner III and fiancée Jackie DeCoteau of South Windsor, and Rocco Futtner of East Hartford. He also leaves his cherished grandniece and grandnephews, Matthew, Megan and Michael Futtner.
The family will gather on Saturday, September 14th from 9-10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church (North American Martyrs Parish), 15 Maplewood Ave, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Hartford. Memorial donations in Ed’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Ronald McDonald House of CT, 860 Howard Ave, New Haven, CT 06519.
