Ana Delia (Melendez) Castro, 89, of Hartford, wife of the late Domingo Castro, died peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2024. Ana was born in Canovanas Puerto Rico on February 15, 1935, daughter of the late Eusebio and Lenore (Rivera) Melendez. Ana and Domingo married in Puerto Rico and they made their home together in Hartford, Connecticut. Ana was a wonderful cook and seamstress, she enjoyed hosting family, and finding great buys at thrift stores for cooking ware. Ana and Domingo were instrumental in helping bring countless family and friends to the United States. Ana was one of the original founding members of Iglesia De Dios Inc.
She was kind, caring, nurturing, and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great, great grandmother, and friend to many, she will be dearly missed.
She leaves her children, Josue Castro, Esther Castro, Ruth Castro, Noemi Castro and Raquel Castro; her 22 grandchildren that include Kevin Gonzalez and Eric Castro, who she raised as her own; her 41 great grandchildren; 4 great, great grandchildren; 2 sisters and 1 brother. She was predeceased by 3 sons; Domingo Castro Jr, Jorge Luis Adorno, Moises Castro; and 5 siblings.
A funeral service to celebrate Ana’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 12 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St. East Hartford. Ana’s family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 11 am – 12 pm. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
