

Angelo F. Donatelli, 93, of East Hartford, loving husband for over 39 plus years to the late Helen (D’Alesandro) Donatelli, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Hartford on December 8, 1921, a son of the late Carlo and Lucia (DiRenzo) Donatelli, he had resided in East Hartford for over 70 years. Angelo was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1939 and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was employed for over 40 years by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford retiring in 1981 as a Foreman. Angelo was a member of the Pratt & Whitney Retirees Club and was a member of the bowling and golf leagues. He was a past treasurer and secretary of the Pratt & Whitney Bowling League for many years. He was a past president, secretary, and treasurer of the Italian American Club of East Hartford, and was the oldest and a 70-year member of the St. Valentine Social Club of Hartford and East Hartford where he had held office of president and treasurer. A devout Catholic, he was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Rose Church, East Hartford where he was a former member of the Parish Council, assisted with the collections and making deposits on Sunday’s, and worked diligently at the annual Church Carnival. He was also an avid reader and loyal life-long fan of the New York Yankees. Most of all, Angelo was a true gentleman and devoted husband, father, and uncle who will be dearly missed by all his family.
Angelo is survived by his two beloved and caring daughters, Nancy E. Donatelli and Marie L. Donatelli both of East Hartford with whom he made his home; a sister, Natalie Giapponi of Wallingford; many special dear nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends. Besides his beloved wife and parents, Angelo was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Donatelli of Bloomfield; a sister, Sarah Gaetano of Wallingford; and his longtime companion, Toni Savard of Newington.
Funeral service will be Wednesday (June 24th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Rose Church, 33 Church Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, (Section P), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Wednesday morning). Relatives and friends may call at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Tuesday (June 23rd) from 4-7 pm.
