Born in Hartford on March 25, 1921, a son of the late Cesare and Rose (Mita) Lantieri, he moved to East Hartford in 1947. He and Jessie were married in 1947 in St. Rose Church, East Hartford and he had been a faithful communicant and resident of East Hartford for the past 66 years. He attended the Hartford Public Schools and Porter School of Design. He served as a Technical Corporal in the Army Air Force 2212 Quartermaster Corp during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He received the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and Victory Medal. He was employed by the Great Atlantic Pacific Tea Company for 33 years, retiring in 1983, and The Hartford Courant part time for fifteen years. He belonged to the Teamsters Local #559, where he was a former Steward. He was also former President of the Figlidi Palazzolo Acreide, former Young Italian Club, and the Italian American Club in East Hartford. He was also an avid duck-pin bowler and loved working outside around the house taking care of the shrubs and flowers. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and soothed many a troubled heart. No challenge was great enough for him to handle - he was always there to listen, advise and give a lending hand. There will always be a place in the hearts of his loving family and friends for him and know that he leaves them with a great love and devotion, and memories that will be cherished forever.
