Ann (Yarsawich) Grogan, 81, of Providence, RI and formerly of East Hartford, loving wife of 54 years of the late Michael Edward Grogan, peacefully journeyed home on Saturday, October 20, 2018 to join her husband in Heaven. Born in Hartford on October 5, 1937, a daughter of the late Walter J. and Helen (Kelly) Yarsawich, she had resided in the East Hartford/Hartford area for most of her life. Ann was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School in Hartford and later worked many years as an LPN in the Hartford area, especially for Dr. Paul Gagnon in East Hartford. Ann served others throughout her life in working with the Red Cross, Hospice, and the Community Renewal Team providing meals for the Seniors. Ann was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Square Dance Club of Glastonbury where she enjoyed square dancing with her husband and friends. She loved going to tag sales, antique stores, and camping with her husband, family and friends for many years. Ann is survived by her four devoted daughters, Mary-Beth Welesko and her husband, Larry, of North Kingstown, RI, Janice Andrews and her husband, Alan, of Broad Brook, Lisa Sobestanovich and her husband, Jim, of Southington, Karen “Katie” Sheppard and her husband, Cullen, of Lexington, KY; ten cherished grandchildren, Melissa Cleveland and her husband, Chase, of Charlottesville, VA, Brian Welesko of Jersey City, NJ, Emily Sobestanovich of Colorado Springs, CO, Kelsey Sobestanovich of Southington, Alana Andrews and Jenna Andrews both of Broad Brook, Michaela Shea, Margaret “Maggie” Sheppard, Molly Sheppard, and Will Sheppard all of Lexington, KY; two adored great-grandchildren, Madison Scott Cleveland and Calder Rawlins Cleveland both of Charlottesville, VA. She also leaves two brothers, Donald Yarsawich of Glastonbury, Jack Yarsawich and his wife, Cindy, of Harwinton; a sister, Clayre Johnson and her husband, Kent, of South Glastonbury; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Funeral service will be Monday (October 29th) at 9:30 a.m. from the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at the Our Lady of Peace campus of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 370 May Road, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Sunday (October 28th) from 3 – 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ann’s name may be made to the Community Renewal Team (CRT) @ East Hartford Southend Senior Center, 70 Canterbury Street, East Hartford, CT 06118. My mother, Barbara Kittredge, and Ann were more like sisters than cousins.
She loved Ann and Mike very much as she did all of her cousins. I will pray for Ann and her family and offer my deepest heartfelt condolences.
