Anthony J. DeRosa Jr.

Anthony “Tony” J. DeRosa, Jr., 89, of East Hartford, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the Riverside Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in East Hartford. Born in Hartford on September 21, 1928, a son of the late Anthony J. and Emanuella (Carillo) DeRosa, he had been a resident of East Hartford for many years. Tony was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1946 and accounting school. Prior to his retirement, Tony was employed by the city of Hartford for over 40 years as a Certified Public Accountant. A devout Catholic, Tony was a long-time communicant of St. Rose Church, East Hartford and was a member of the Knights of Columbus-Rev. J.C. Martin Council #3901, East Hartford. A sports enthusiast, Tony enjoyed baseball, football, and loved bowling as he participated in several bowling leagues in the area. Most of all, Tony was a caring, gentle man who cherished his time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Tony is survived by a brother, Frank DeRosa of Glastonbury; two sisters, Edwina “Dolly” Straceski of East Hartford, Jacqueline “Jackie” Chicoine and her husband, Wilfred, of East Hartford; a brother-in-law, Tom Reddy of East Hartford; several adored nieces, nephews, dear friends, and former co-workers. In addition to his beloved parents, Tony was predeceased by two brothers, John J. DeRosa of East Hartford and Donald DeRosa of Glastonbury; and a sister, Geraldine Reddy of East Harford. Funeral service will be Monday (July 23, 2018) at 10 am from the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Harford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Rose Church, 33 Church Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, (Section Y), Bloomfield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Monday morning (July 23rd) from 9-10 am.
