
August J. ""Augie"" Breton, 78, of East Hartford, beloved husband of the late Jennie M. (Pappaceno) Breton who predeceased him in July, went to join her surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, (October 30, 2007) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Benton, ME, he grew up in the Frog Hollow section of Hartford where he attended St. Anne's School. During his youth he was a boxer known as ""Augie Brett"". He lived in East Hartford since 1951 and retired in 1991 from the Town of East Hartford Sanitation Dept. after 30 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and skiing. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren in the outdoors and his many fishing trips to Vermont with his buddy Ray. He enjoyed family vacations to Hampton Beach. Family meant everything to him, in particular the time spent with his wife, Jennie. Augie is survived by three sons, August J. Breton of Georgia, Gary J. Breton and his wife Gail of South Windsor, Kevin J. Breton and his wife Jennifer of Ashford; two daughters, Debra Dagon and her husband Richard of East Hartford, Jennifer Croft and her husband Raymond of East Hartford; nine special grandchildren, August and Justin Breton of Georgia, Carlee and Jeremy Breton of South Windsor, Eric and Jennie Breton of Ashford and Richard, Ryan and Bobby Dagon of East Hartford and two adored great grandchildren, Sophia and Dean Breton both in Georgia. He is also survived by three brothers, Harvey J. Breton and his wife Pauline of Florida, John Breton and his wife Carol of Enfield, Andrew Breton and his wife Gloria of Windsor; four sisters, Theresa Calbi and her husband Frank of Wethersfield, Helen Cantone of Wethersfield, Carmella Bolles and her husband Edward of Ellington and Anne Vasquez of California; and many devoted nephews and nieces. The funeral is Saturday at 9:45 a.m. from the D'ESOPO East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Road, East Hartford. Burial is private. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
