

Avis Jean D'Alessandro (Anderson), age 88, wife of the late George A. D'Alessandro of East Hartford, CT peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Hartford Hospital on February 12, 1937, daughter of the late Oscar L. and Inez Anderson of Manchester and Florida, she was a lifelong resident of the East Hartford/Manchester area. She graduated from Manchester High School, class of 1955. She is survived by her three loving sons and their wives and children, Bruce & Tina D'Alessandro of Huntersville, NC, Brian & Lydia D'Alessandro of Haines City, FL and Doug & Christine D'Alessandro of Vernon, CT. Her beloved grandchildren, Jason D'Alessandro and his wife Heidi of Groton, MA, Alyssa D'Alessandro of Ellington, CT and Daniel D'Alessandro of Vernon, CT; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Gunnar, Sienna and Chloe D Alessandro of Groton, MA. She also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Elwood & Denise Anderson of Cape Coral, FL, many beloved nieces, cousins and friends. Her niece Nanette Knight of East Hartford, CT was more like a sister to her, and she loved her very much.
She was a member of South Congregational Church, East Hartford. The other part of her family was her work family at Discount Trophy & Co in South Windsor, CT where she worked for 32 years. Avis was loved and adored by so many there just isn't enough room to list everyone here. Everyone that knew her, knew they were special to her as she always showed so much love and affection to everyone around her. We can't thank the staff and members of Brookdale Senior Living in South Windsor enough for the outpouring of love and support throughout her time there. She called Brookdale her home for the last two years and she loved everyone there so much too. Our hearts are just overjoyed with all the love and support you have all shown.
Avis’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday (July 30th) from 4 – 7 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. A prayer service celebrating her life will follow at 7 pm. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name, may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
