Barbara Jean (Addis) (DeJohn) Brezinski, 90, a faithful Christian soldier of East Hartford, marched home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 6, 2021. She passed with her loving daughter, Linda and her steadfast caregiver, Gladys by her side. Barbara was the widow of Raymond DeJohn and E. William Brezinski.
Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Marion (Burke) Addis. She was a registered nurse and worked at McCook Hospital, prior to retiring early to focus on caring for her family. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A faithful communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, she and her fellow church friends spent many a morning after Mass at local bakeries, sharing stories and enjoying a sweet treat over coffee. Her children and grandchildren were dear to her and always in her heart and her eyes had an especially loving sparkle whenever she saw or spoke of her precious great grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her son, Richard DeJohn and his wife Jennifer of East Hartford; a daughter, Linda M. DeJohn Bantell and her husband John of Hebron; two grandchildren, Adam Bantell and his wife Stephanie of Black River Falls, Wisconsin and Emily Kubena and her husband Richard of Columbia, CT along with five beloved great grandchildren, Dante, Declan, John, Rosemary and Audrey. She also leaves a brother, William Addis of Newington; a special friend, Ann Sullivan of East Hartford and her caregiver and friend, Gladys Armah of Avon. Besides her beloved husbands and parents, Barbara was predeceased by a son, Kenneth DeJohn.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday (May 12th) at D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church (St. Edmund Campion Parish) 370 May Rd., East Hartford. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
