Carmen Julia Torres-Martinez

Carmen J. Torres-Martinez, 69, of Hartford and formerly Puerto Rico, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 27, 1956, in Humacao, Puerto Rico, Carmen was the daughter of the late Manuel Torres Sierra and Valerie Martinez Vasquez. Carmen moved to Hartford from Puerto Rico in 1983, to raise her two children.

A woman of strong faith, she was a devout Catholic who found daily comfort in prayer, the rosary, and scripture. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and watching Spanish soap operas. She loved to shop and get dressed up every day in her signature dresses. Most of all she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister who cherished her time with family.

Carmen is survived by her two caring children; Anibal Figueroa whom she made her home with, and Wanda Figueroa of East Hartford. Her adored granddaughter Analiz Figueroa of Waterbury. Her three beloved siblings; Manuel Torres, Yolanda Torres Rivera and her husband Junior, and Santa Cosme Torres and her husband Harry, all of Puerto Rico. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her dog Sammy who she loved deeply.
