Carol Ann Lavoie

July 4, 1939May 29, 2021

Carol (Hatch) Lavoie, 81, of East Hartford, loving wife of 38 years of the late Leandre “Guy” Lavoie, passed away peacefully with her caring daughter by her side on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at St. Mary Home in West Hartford. Born in Middlebury, Vermont on July 4, 1939, a daughter of the late Lewis and Ethel (Eubar) Hatch, she had been a resident of Windsor, Enfield, and West Suffield prior to moving to East Hartford over 20 years ago. Prior to her retirement, Carol was a Nurse’s Aide for many years at Kimberly Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Windsor. Talented in crafts, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was a member of the “knitting club” at the East Hartford Southend Senior Center. Carol liked professional football and was a loyal fan of the New York Giants. Most of all, she was a devoted and proud mother and grandmother who enjoyed supporting and spending time with her family. She could never do enough for them and will be dearly missed by all of them. Carol is survived by her beloved daughter, Nancy S. Hazzard and her husband Robert of Windsor; two sons, James L. Lavoie and his wife Libby of San Antonio, TX, Rod Barnish and his wife Cindy of South Hadley, MA; several adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-sons, cousins, and dear friends (Best friends Cheryl and Mary). Carol especially loved and held a very special place in her heart for her grandchildren Katelin Schofield and Jonathan Schofield of Windsor. Funeral service and calling hours celebrating Carol’s life will be Friday (June 4, 2021) from 11 am to 12:30 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Development Office @ St. Mary Home, 2021 Albany Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06117. Carol and I were in the band together in high school, went on band trips and graduated together. She was a quiet and friendly person.
My sincere sympathy to all of her family.
