Catherine Vera (mooney) Keane

Catherine Vera (Mooney) Keane, of Woodstock and formerly of East Hartford, peacefully passed away on Thursday, (April 16, 2009) at St. Francis Hospital with her caring family by her side. Vera was the loving wife of the late John J. Keane, Sr. Born in Galway, Ireland, a daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Maguire) Mooney, she had resided in East Hartford for 25 years prior to moving to Woodstock in 2005. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years by Cheney Brothers Silk Factory in Manchester as a weaver. Vera was a member of the Irish American Home in Glastonbury, as well as being an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables. She was also a loyal and devoted fan of both the UCONN Men's and Women's basketball teams. Along with her husband and parents, Vera was predeceased by a son, John J. Keane, Jr. formerly of Andover. Vera is survived by her two beloved daughters, Susan Keane and her husband Vincent Mazzotta of East Hartford, Sheilah Keane and her husband Lou Albert of Woodstock with whom she had made her home; six adored grandchildren, Daniel Mazzotta, Kate Mazzotta, Alora Albert, Shaylin Albert, Jameson Neseralla, Brennan Neseralla; a former daughter-in-law, Dena Neseralla of Avon; three honorary grandchildren, Bryce Neseralla, Maggie Crean, Taylor Pyka; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 25, with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Vera's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 279 New Britain Road, Suite 5, Kensington, CT 06037 or to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, 27 Allendale Drive, North Haven, CT 06473.
