

Chester J. “Chet” DiPietro, 85, of Manchester, left this world on Sunday, March 8, 2026, to join his cherished late wife of 50 years, Nancy T. (Tuzzolino) DiPietro. Born in New Britain on February 16, 1941, a son of the late Joseph and Rose (Motto) DiPietro, he had been a resident of East Hartford for many years prior to moving to Manchester in 2001. Chet grew up in New Britain and was a graduate of New Britain High School, class of 1959.
Prior to his retirement, Chet was employed for over 30 years by Connecticut Natural Gas Company as a Mark-Out Man and was a member of the company’s “Quarter Century Club”. He was an avid music lover who self-taught himself how to play the guitar. A talented wood worker, he made several different pieces of furniture for his family members to enjoy. He was also a fan of the UConn men’s basketball team and UConn women’s basketball team along with rooting on the New York Giants.
Chet is survived by his devoted son Marc J. DiPietro and his wife Alecia of Glastonbury; a sister, Nancy Quistberg of Louisville, KY; a sister-in-law, Lucia Miles of East Hartford; a brother-in-law, Joseph A. Tuzzolino of East Hartford; a special caring neighbor, Tom Brown and his wife Suzanne of Manchester; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Chet was predeceased by a sister, Grace DiPietro of New Britain.
Chet’s family will receive relatives and friends at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Saturday (March 28th) from 11 am to 1 pm, followed by some Words of Remembrance. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Chet’s name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
