Cynthia A. (Shunta) Burgor

Cynthia A. (Shunta) Burgor, 65, of Hartford, beloved wife for 36 years of Fred Burgor, passed away peacefully with her family always by her side on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Born in Hartford on July 5, 1949, she was the daughter of the late John N. and Bernice (Bartasus) Shunta. Cynthia worked in the Hartford school system as a cafeteria worker. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her husband Fred; her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Willie Rodriguez of East Hartford and her adored grandson, Elijah. She is also survived by her brother, John V. Shunta of East Windsor, as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Shunta. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at both Bay State Medical Center and St. Francis Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Cynthia and her family. Funeral services will begin on Monday (March 23) at 10:00 a.m. at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 36 Cambridge Dr., East Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
