

David K. Cone, 82, of East Hartford and Sarasota, FL, loving husband of over 63 years of Gail (Ierardi) Cone, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 with his caring family by his side at the Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton, FL. Born in Manchester on August 16, 1933, a son of the late Roy and Mata (Kempton) Cone, he had been a resident of East Hartford for over 50 years and had been going to Sarasota, FL for the past 20 years. David was a graduate of Glastonbury High School, Class of 1951. Prior to his retirement, David was employed for 34 years by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, retiring as a Manager. David was a former communicant of St. Isaac Jogues Church, East Hartford, enjoyed bowling and was a long-time loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox. Always thinking of helping others, David was a 13-Gallon blood donor. David was known as a talented “jack of all trades” around his homes. Most of all, David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be remembered by all for his infectious beautiful smile and quick sense of humor.
Besides his beloved wife Gail, David is survived by a son, David K. Cone, Jr. and his wife, Marilyn, of Ann Arbor, MI; two daughters, Kim Forcier and her husband, Art, of Meriden, Karen Testori and her companion, Bob Dunkley, of Ellenton, FL; seven cherished grandchildren, Melissa, Kristi, Matthew, Andrea, Mark, Amy, and Laura; thirteen adored great-grandchildren; and one special great, great-grandson. He also leaves a sister, Jackie Hayden of Tucson, AZ; three sisters-in-law, Gloria Maynard and her husband, Ken, of East Hartford, Irene Cone of East Hartford, Patricia Cone of Bloomfield; a brother-in-law, Roger Ierardi and his wife, Shelly, of Sarasota, FL; special long-time friends, Sandra and Ed Sheridan of Glastonbury; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Along with his parents, David was predeceased by three brothers, Roy Jr., Bill, and Don; and three sisters, Frances, Betty, and Barbara.
Funeral service will be Monday (December 14, 2015) at 11 am at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Sunday (December 13, 2015) from 3-6 pm.
