Donald K. Emerson

Donald K. Emerson, 62, of East Hartford, loving husband for over 33 years of Katherine A. (Bernier) Emerson, peacefully departed this life to join other family members in heaven on Tuesday (December 25, 2012). Born in Springfield, MA on January 9, 1950, a son of the late Donald K. and Doris (Wilcox) Emerson, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 2001. Prior to his retirement, Donald was a salesman for area building supply companies that included Home Depot, Lowes, and Lyon & Billiard. Donald liked the outdoors, especially camping and target shooting, and was a member of the N.R.A. Most of all, Donald will be remembered as a generous and caring gentleman who truly enjoyed helping others. Along with his wife, Kathy, Donald is survived by a brother, Randy Emerson and his wife, Suzanne, of Newington; a sister, Linda K. Sweet and her husband, William, of Grafton, NH; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and dear friends. Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by a brother, David W. Emerson of Wethersfield, and two sisters, Elisabeth Emerson of Avon, Audrey Emerson of Vernon.

Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Donald's name may be made to the Salvation Army, 855 Asylum Ave., Hartford, CT 06105.
