

Doris E. (Johnson) Frazier, 72, of East Hartford, loving wife of Lawrence R. Frazier, entered into eternal life with her family by her side on Saturday, (March 8, 2008) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born in Norwich, a daughter of the late John R. and Mary A. (McCarthy) Johnson, she had resided in East Hartford for over sixty years. Doris was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1954, which was the last graduating class from the former East Hartford High School, now known as the East Hartford Cultural Center. Doris was an active communicant of St. Rose Church, East Hartford, where she was involved with the former Folk Group and a former secretary for the Religious Education Department. Doris was a member and past President of the East Hartford Woman's Club, a graduate of the East Hartford Citizens Police Academy, and a proud Irish Democrat who worked many elections, enjoying being a ""Checker"" most. Doris was an avid and voracious reader who donated over one hundred volumes to local convalescent homes for the patients to enjoy. Doris also enjoyed knitting, making many prayer shawls for family and friends to use, as well as being a loyal and dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox. Doris was proud of her beloved husband, Larry of over fifty years, and was very instrumental in helping him establish his successful architectural practice in the town of East Hartford. Along with her husband, Larry, Doris is survived by her six special daughters and sons-in-law, Sheilah and Michael McCoy of Linden, NJ, Jaime and Christopher George of West Warwick, RI, Jerilyn and Timothy Cook of Poland, ME, Elizabeth 'Betsi' and Gary Feldman, Sr. of Ellington, Leigh-An and Frank Boyer of Enfield, Keri and Daniel Peterson of Stormville, NY; her mother-in-law, Harriet (Augsten) Frazier in Millbrook Park, NJ; a brother-in-law, Robert Frazier and his wife, Patricia, of Marco Island, FL; a sister-in-law, Linda Tomas and her husband, Robert, of Glen Rock, NJ; sixteen adored grandchildren, Justin, Chelsea, Iain, and Devan McCoy, Caitlin and Cameron George, Andy, Kenzie, Lindsay, and Julianne Cook, Gary Jr. and Josh Feldman, Zachary and Ethan Boyer, Victoria and Nicholas Peterson; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 12 at 9 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 33 Church Street, East Hartford. Mass will be officiated by a beloved family friend, Msgr. John P. Conte, who was also Celebrant at all of Doris' daughters weddings and all her grandchildren's baptisms. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday March 11, from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions in memory of Doris may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Road, Middletown, CT, 06457.
