Dorothea “Dottie” Baker, 94, formerly of Willow Arms, East Hartford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 19, 2018. She was born to the late Lawrence and Edith (Holmes) Beauvais on June 11, 1924. Dottie loved to travel all over the United States with her beloved late husband, Raymond E. Baker. She was an avid bingo player at the South End Senior Center and the AARP Hockanum Chapter #1006. Dottie enjoyed her family, baking and selling her beautiful cakes, cooking, canning, crafts, and tending to her garden. She is also a polio survivor and belonged to the Polio Association.
Dottie is survived by her four daughters, Marjorie Smith, Caroline Newth, Dorothea Mikalauskas and Barbara Baker; nine grandchildren; over fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Beauvais; a sister Lorraine Mascone; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her brothers Alfred and Richard, her sister Gloria, and a grandson David Mikalauskas.
Funeral service will be Thursday (August 23rd) with a graveside service only at 10:30 am at Hillside Cemetery, (Veteran’s Section #2), One Hillside Street, East Hartford. There are no calling hours. Everyone is asked to please go directly to Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford on Thursday morning.
