Dorothy Hartl (Gaylor), 82, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Hartford Hospital on Sunday, May 21, 2023. She was born on March 28, 1941 in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late Donald and Margaret Gaylor (Hall). She married the love of her life on October 8, 1960 and started a family shortly after. She worked for the East Hartford Public School system and ultimately retired from Bank of America. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She enjoyed farming, golfing, hand making dolls and sewing, playing cards, baking and spending time with her loved ones.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, William Hartl. She was a loving mother survived by her two sons, Greg and his wife, Laura of Coventry, CT., and Wayne of Bolton, CT. She is survived by her 5 adored grandchildren, Karlie, Alex, Michaela, Leah and Sarah; as well as her two great grandchildren, Mary and Camden. She is survived by one sister, Gay Miller of Denver, CO and special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ella Benson.
Dorothy’s family will receive relatives and friends at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 4-7 pm. Private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
