

Edward “Ted” M. Cowing, 79, of East Hartford, loving husband of 52 years of Mary Ann (Lombard) Cowing, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at his home. Born in Hartford on December 25, 1934, a son of the late Edward and Stella (Garland) Cowing, he had been a resident of East Hartford for most of his life. Ted was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1952, and was a member of the former East Hartford Elks Lodge #2063. Ted spent his entire work career in the construction business, working many years for R. J. Alexander, Inc. of East Hartford as a General Contractor. He then was a Facilities Contractor for many years at Flanagan Brothers of Glastonbury until his retirement. Ted will be best remembered for his many acts of kindness, as he did so much for so many people. He truly lived by the “Golden Rule”. Besides his parents, Ted was predeceased by his brother, Robert Cowing of West Hartford.
Along with his devoted and caring wife, Mary Ann, Ted leaves behind his nephews, Robert G. Cowing of New Jersey, and Kenneth Cowing of Kansas; his nieces, Rosemary Barone and Pam Raymond both of Connecticut, Heather Cline of Florida; several great and great-great nieces and great-nephews; and many dear friends and former co-workers.
Funeral service will be Saturday (November 22nd) at 10 am from the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, (Section BB), East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Saturday morning form 9 –10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edward’s name may be made to the Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza, Suite 200, East Hartford, CT 06108.
