Elizabeth ""Betty"" (Sledzewski) Grilli, 93, of East Harford, loving wife of 43 years to the late Louis Grilli, unexpectedly passed into eternal life on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on July 8, 1921, a daughter of the late Teofil and Adela (Kurowski) Sledzewski, she had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 74 years. Betty was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1939. Prior to her retirement, Betty was employed for 35 years by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company, East Hartford. A devout Catholic, Betty was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford and formerly of St. Rose Church, East Hartford. She was a member of the Pratt & Whitney Retirees Club and Volunteer Group. While with the Pratt Volunteer Group she participated with the Corporate Headquarters employees at the annual ""Symphony on Ice""; Special Olympics; United Way ""Day of Caring"" at the Veterans' Home and Hospital; and the Moylan/McDonough School Children's Holiday Party. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross blood drives. Betty will be remembered by many for ""sharing morning coffee"" at Burger King on Silver Lane, East Hartford with her friends and family. Betty was proud of her Polish heritage and especially a proud mother and grandmother of her entire family and their individual accomplishments. She loved all the family gatherings at the beach and traveling on vacations, especially with her family. Most of all, Betty was a loving and caring individual whose generosity was felt by her entire family. Betty is survived by her daughter, Sandra G. Marques and her husband, Richard, of East Hartford with whom she made her home; a son, Dr. Gary L. Grilli, DDS and his wife, Jean, of Ellington; seven special grandchildren, Richard Marques and his wife, Renee, of Hebron, Darren Marques of East Hartford, Elizabeth ""Beth"" Richardson and her husband, Christopher, of East Hartford, Carreen Clark and her husband, Dean, of Ellington, Dr. Gary F. Grilli, DMD and his wife, Nicole, of South Windsor, Thomas Grilli and his wife, Dana, of South Windsor, Jennifer Getek and her husband, Nicholas, of East Hartford; twelve adored great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Michael, Colby, Braydon, Nicholas, Alexis, Ryan, Nathan, Justin, Grace, Thomas, and Callie. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, especially two nephews, Frank Perrone and his wife, Carol, of Canton, Robert Perrone and his wife, Pat, of Avon; several godchildren and dear friends. Besides her beloved husband and parents she was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Frank Perrone of East Hartford. Funeral service will be Friday (June 26th) at 9 am from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at Our Lady of Peace Church, May Road/Brandon Road, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, (Section R), Bloomfield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday (June 25th) from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elizabeth's name may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 or to a favorite charity of the donor's choice .
