

Eugenia M. “Jean” (Hird) Nardslico, of Tolland and formerly of East Hartford, passed away peacefully into eternal life on Friday, October 23, 2015. Jean was born in Manhattan, New York on October 1, 1927. For almost 50 years she was the beloved wife of the late Albert J. Nardslico. Jean attended school in Carbondale, PA where she met and married her beloved husband in 1947. They moved to Connecticut and raised three daughters. Jean lived in Hartford briefly then East Hartford for over thirty years before moving to Tolland with her daughter and her family in 1994. She was employed by the Underwood Typewriter factory for numerous years. Following the closing of the Underwood factory she worked in retail until she retired. In her earlier days Jean was a bit of a “Jack” of all trades, she could paint, wallpaper, hang dry wall, lay hardwood floors and knew how to swing a hammer. In later years she loved to do crafts of any kind, needle point, knitting, crocheting, doll making and creating wall decorations. Jean also enjoyed playing cards, board games and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by three daughters, Gina Shea and her husband Barry of Tolland, Cynthia Etienne and her husband Daniel of South Windsor, Emma Jean Perrone and her husband Peter of South Windsor; five grandchildren, Erica, Nickie, Kristie, Christopher and Richard; several great grandchildren; her sister, Florence Kubel; a brother, Norman Hird; her dear friend, Mary Ellen Noto; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Albert; two brothers, Ernie and Sidney; a sister, Mary; and a grandson, Justin Shea.
Funeral service will be Tuesday (October 27th) at 10 am from the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 am at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, (Section E), Roberts Street, East Hartford where she will once again be at her husbands’ side. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Monday (October 26th) from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jean’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
