

Floyd K. Cameron, 72, passed away Sunday, (November 1, 2009) at his home in Kissimmee, FL. Floyd is the son of Augustina (Beland) Cameron of East Hartford and the late Carl Cameron. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lynn (Richmond) Cameron, and his three children, Robin (Cameron) Bagnell and her husband Randy of Lake Mary, FL, Carrie Cameron, and Kenneth Cameron both of Kissimmee, FL. Floyd also leaves a sister, Carlene Cameron of East Hartford; a brother, Terry Cameron and his wife Susan of Kissimmee, FL.; his only grandchild, Jessica Bagnell, whom he adored; an aunt in Maine; an Uncle and Aunt in California; seven nieces and nephews; and several cousins, former customers, and dear friends. Floyd came from Maine to East Hartford when he was five years old and resided in East Hartford for most of his life. He graduated from East Hartford High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company in East Hartford prior to owning several businesses in Connecticut. He is mostly known for his 17 years at Cameron's Auto Repair and Towing in Windsor and after that The Dairy King ice cream business in Columbia. He also held real estate licenses in both Florida and Connecticut. This past summer he worked at the Brialee Campground in Ashford doing security and wagon rides outside of the park. Floyd was formerly active in East Hartford Little League and was instrumental in starting the Challenger Division of Little League where he was also a sponsor. He was always active repairing or building things. His family spent every summer in Ashford and after retiring, the winters in Florida. His hobbies were fishing, playing cards, and going to Dunkin Donuts. He had a close and loving family and many friends who will remember his contagious laugh and miss him dearly. Funeral services will be Friday (November 13th) at 9 am from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Road, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery (Section C), East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday (November 12th) from 5-8 pm.
