

Francis Xavier Driscoll, 88, of East Hartford, loving husband of over 60 years of Irene R. (Aleria) Driscoll, peacefully entered into eternal rest surrounded by his caring family on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Riverside Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, East Hartford. Born in Hartford on January 9, 1929, a son of the late Gerald and Margaret (Keefe) Driscoll, he had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Francis was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1947 and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement Francis was employed as a Warehouse Manager by First National Supermarkets for over 30 years. A devout catholic, Francis was a long-time faithful communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford where he was a former usher for many years. A star football player, Francis played semi-professional ball with the Rockville Rams and was known as the “60-minute man” from playing the entire game. He was the founder and a head coach of the East Hartford Mustangs Youth Football for many years, with his teams winning several championships. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and New York Yankees, but most of all was a devoted and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.
Along with his beloved wife Irene, Francis is survived by two sons, Frank X. Driscoll, II and his wife Susan of Windsor, William J. Driscoll and his wife Linda of East Hartford; and two grandsons, William J. Driscoll, Jr. of East Hartford and Samuel F. Driscoll of Windsor. He also leaves a brother-in-law, Frank Aleria and his wife Gayle of East Hartford; two sisters-in-law, Ann Trabucco of East Hartford, Connie Greco and her husband Subby of Largo, FL; several nieces, nephews, former players, and dear friends.
Funeral service will be Wednesday (January 18th) at 9:30 am from the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Peace Church, Brandon Road/May Road, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery-Veteran’s Field HH, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday (January 17th) from 4-7 pm.
