

Frank S.A. Pappalardo, 73, of East Hartford, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday (April 21, 2010) at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his caring family. Born in Hartford on May 22, 1936, a son of the late Pasquale and Pauline (Cartelli) Pappalardo of Wethersfield, he had resided in East Hartford for the past forty-eight years. Frank was a graduate and member of the Class of 1954 of Weaver High School, Hartford and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves serving during the Cuban Crisis. Prior to his retirement on September 15, 1994, Frank was employed as a machinist for thirty-five years by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Haven. Frank also worked part-time at Hartford Hospital and retired from the hospital after thirty-five years of dedicated service. Frank was an avid gardener, especially of vegetables, and a long-time loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox. Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his wife, Edith (Ewing) Pappalardo of East Hartford; his long-time companion, Marie DeVito of North Haven; and a brother, Joseph Pappalardo of Newington. Frank is survived by two sons, Mark R. Pappalardo and his partner, William Daugherty, of Colchester, R. Scott Pappalardo and his wife, Antonella, of New Britain; a daughter, Valerie L. Morin and her husband, Joseph Sr., of East Hartford with whom he made his home; three brothers, Angelo Pappalardo of Long Island, NY, Carmen Pappalardo and his wife, Carol, of Manchester, John Pappalardo and his wife, Norma, of Newington; two sisters, Mary Pappalardo and her partner, Patricia Delmore, of Boynton Beach, FL, Dorothy Petrone of Rocky Hill; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Pappalardo of Newington; five special grandchildren, Austin Pappalardo and his wife, Morgan, of Colchester, David Cote and his partner, Tasha Fulton, of Springfield, MA, Alasandra Giovannucci and Antonio Giovannucci both of New Britain, and Joseph Morin Jr. of East Hartford; and three adored great-grandchildren, Laela Pappalardo, Kazimierz Cote and Daveigh Cote. Along with several nieces and nephews, Frank also leaves his late companion, Marie DeVito's children, Michelle DeVito-Kerr and her husband, Hal, of Meriden and Donna DeVito of Wallingford. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 27 at 10 am from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 am at St. Christopher Church, Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery (Section 24), Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Monday, April 26 from 4-7 pm.
