Frederic "Fred" Kostenko

Frederic “Fred” M. Kostenko, 80, of East Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 20, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford with his caring family by his side. Born in New London on July 29, 1943, a son of the late Francis and Christine (Macknicki) Kostenko, he had resided in the East Hartford/Manchester area for the past 65 years. Fred was a graduate of Manchester High School, class of 1961, and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, Fred was a machinist for many years at area manufacturing shops. An outdoorsman, he loved fishing and often going to the beach and ocean. He was also an avid reader and loyal longtime fan of the New York Giants.

Fred is survived by his longtime loving fiancée, Judy A. Lamoureux of East Hartford; his son, Jon Kostenko of Southington, his daughter, Kimberly Kostenko; his beloved sister, Barbara A. Cyr of Manchester; Judy’s two children, Melissa Lamoureux of East Hartford and her son Justin, Tracy Brown and her husband Earl of Manchester and their children Devin, Anthony, and Hylton. He also leaves five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Along with his parents, Fred was predeceased by a sister, Geraldine Evarts formerly of Mystic; and a brother-in-law, Fred Richard Cyr of East Hartford.

Private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Fred’s name may be made to a favorite charity of the donor’s choice. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
