

George E. Grivois, 90, of East Hartford, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. He was born on February 22, 1926 in Lille, ME, a son of the late Clovis and Anna (Sirois) Grivois. He leaves his beloved wife of 66 years, Verna (Clavette) Grivois, with whom he lived in East Hartford. He is also survived by two daughters: Deborah Thorpe of East Hartford and Tina Sacco, and her fiancé David Plis, of Bolton; five grandchildren: Jason Grivois, and his wife Jennifer (Canning), of Tolland; Evan Thorpe, and his fiancée Gabrielle Lawrence, of East Hartford; Abbey Sacco of Vernon; Jill Sacco of Cromwell, and Hayley Sacco, and her partner Nicholas Pyne, of South Portland, ME; and three great-grandchildren: Kaleigh, Alyssa, and Isabelle Grivois, all of Tolland. He also leaves his sister, Jeannine Bouchard, and her husband Joel, of Madawaska, ME; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Greg P. Grivois of East Hartford; one sister and six brothers. George fondly remembered his childhood in northern Maine and enjoyed sharing his memories with his children and grandchildren. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and moved to Connecticut in the 1940's where he met his wife, built a successful business, and raised his family. Although he did not have the privilege of higher education, he valued it greatly and passed on those values to his children. Prior to his retirement, he was co-owner of Ace Auto Body, Inc. in Hartford, CT with his brother-in-law, Eddie Clavette. He was actively involved in The French Social Circle and the Franco American War Veterans. George loved being outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was always so proud of their accomplishments. He will be dearly missed. Funeral service will be Thursday (March 10, 2016) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge Drive, East Hartford. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Thursday morning). Burial with military honors will be at Hillside Cemetery, (Section G), East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Wednesday (March 9, 2016) from 4-7 pm.
