Georgiana “Gee” (Provoncha) Greenwood, 103, of East Hartford, beloved wife of the late Owen Greenwood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Gee was born July 21, 1913 on the family farm in Brownington, VT to Benjamin and Carolyn (Blouin) Provoncha. She attended Brownington’s North School and being from a musical family, she later played the piano and organ at Brownington Center Dance Hall. It was there that she was introduced to Owen Greenwood and they later married at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in Orleans, VT on October 15, 1934. They resided in Orleans until 1942 when they moved to Charles St. in Lyndonville, VT. They remained there until Owen’s death in 1983. Gee then made her home in East Hartford so she could be near her children. Gee was a very kind and loving woman whose greatest joy was being with family and riding on the back roads of northern Vermont with Owen. She is survived by her son, Winston Greenwood of East Hartford; son-in-law, Paul Masini and companion, Julia Hopkins, of Clyde and Stem, NC and her granddaughter, Cher Masini and spouse Christopher Rowe of Superior, CO as well as many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Dorene Mailloux of Glastonbury. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two daughters, Nancy Masini of Avon and infant daughter Marlene Greenwood; six sisters and five spouses, Alma (Reginald) Hardie, Orleans, VT, Arene (Mark) Richardson, Brockton, MA, Elsie (Leonard) Barry, Newport, VT, Doris (Jean) Morin, Merritt Island, FL, Isabele (Ernest) Glodgett, Newport and Derby Line, VT and infant sister Evelyn Provoncha. Gee also lost her in-laws that she loved dearly, father and mother-in-law Ovila (Mary) Greenwood, Brownington, VT and brother-in-law and spouse Sarto (Myrtle) Greenwood, West Charleston, VT. We would like to thank Dr. Roy Zagieboylo and his staff at the Family Medicine Center, East Hartford, the staff at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center and Masonicare Partners for their dedication and compassion during their care of Georgiana.
Graveside funeral services will take place in the Spring in Lyndonville, VT. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. To share a memory of Gee with her family, please visit www.desopo.com.
