
Gerald 'Jerry' J. Bergman, 66, of Windsor Locks, loving husband of forty years to Daune (Dangona) Bergman, unexpectedly entered into eternal life on Thursday, (May 6, 2010). Born in Hartford on March 1, 1944, a son of the late Elliott A. and Frances (Fazzino) Bergman, he has been a resident of Windsor Locks for over thirty-eight years. Jerry grew-up in East Hartford, graduated from East Hartford High School, Class of 1962, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. Prior to his retirement, Jerry was employed for forty years as a Police Officer by the Metropolitan District Commission. Jerry was a faithful and devout Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Windsor Locks. He was a long-time loyal fan of the New York Yankees and a former coach for many years in youth sports in Windsor Locks, and of Unified Sports teams. However, Jerry's whole life centered on his family and his love for his wife, children, nieces and nephews, and most recently his special three grandchildren. Besides his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his father-in-law, Daniel A. Dangona formerly of Windsor. Along with his beloved wife, Daune, Jerry is survived by his two caring sons, Daniel E. Bergman and his wife, Elizabeth, Gerald 'Jae' Bergman and his wife, Lisa, all of Enfield; his three adored grandchildren, Hailey, Tyler, and William all of Enfield; his mother-in-law, Marie (Vendrillo) Dangona of Windsor Locks; three sisters-in-law who were like true sisters to him, Ann Marie Walker and her husband, Steven, of Georgetown, TX, Danielle Dangona and her husband, Fred Lataille, of Bend, OR, Lisa Sapienza and her husband, Thomas, of Milford, NH; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be Monday (May 10th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm Street, Windsor Locks. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Monday morning.) Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park, (Section 15), Elm Street, Rocky Hill.
