

Germaine (Badeau) Guimond, 81, of East Hartford, loving wife of 59 years of Gilles A. Guimond, took her last breath peacefully, surrounded by her immediate family on Friday, July 24, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Germaine was born on April 19, 1945, in Lac Megantic, Province of Quebec, Canada to the late Philorum and Delvina Badeau. She was the fourth of sixteen children, ten boys and six girls. Her parents moved to Barre Vermont, USA, November of 1949 with seven children.
She had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 50 years. A devout catholic, Germaine was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Christopher Church and North American Martyrs Parish in East Hartford.
Prior to her retirement, Germaine was employed by the town of East Hartford Board of Education as a custodian. Germaine loved gardening both vegetables and flowers, traveling up to Vermont and Canada to visit her family, playing cards with family members and friends, and baking around the holidays for family and friends to enjoy. She was also a longtime member of the French Social Circle Club of Vernon and formerly of East Hartford. Most of all, she was a devoted, caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who cherished her time with her entire family.
Along with her beloved husband, Germaine is survived by her two sons, Michael N. Guimond and his wife Rose of East Hartford, James R. Guimond and his wife Tina of Vernon; and three adored grandchildren, Michael N. Guimond of East Hartford, Alexis R. Guimond and her fiancé Nicholas Diaz of Norwalk, and Jacob R. Guimond of Vernon. She also leaves seven brothers, Victor Badeau and his wife Lubiana, Edgar Badeau and his wife Gale, Gaspar Badeau and his wife Janice, and Leonard Badeau and his wife Marie all in Vermont, Richard Badeau and his wife Carleen in Florida, Hector Badeau and his wife Sue in Virginia, Theodore Badeau in Vermont; three sisters, Rejeanne Edson and her husband Philip, Cecile Elmer, and Irene Badeau all in Vermont; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and dear friends.
Germaine was predeceased by her two sisters, Marie Reine Badeau and Madeline (Badeau) Speaks, her three brothers Bernard Badeau, Gerard Badeau, and Edward Badeau, along with her in-laws Ann and Nelson Guimond.
Funeral service will be Friday (August 7th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Christopher Church of North American Martyrs Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Friday morning.
