Gladys Mae Moore, 80, passed from this life on Monday (April 3, 2006) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. She was born at home in East Hartford on March 27, 1926 to the late Clara (Nelson) and Thomas Blythe. She moved to Hartford in her early years, eventually settling on Zion Street where she lived and worked for over 50 years. Gladys was a waitress at Marion's Luncheonette, which later became Timothy's Restaurant, where she worked until failing health forced her to retire several years ago. She still lived above Timothy's Restaurant and continued to come downstairs to visit on a daily basis and making new friends. Anyone living and growing up in the ""Rocky Ridge"" neighborhood, especially during the 1960's and 1970's, knew Gladys. It's the end of an era and Zion Street will never be the same without her there. She is survived by her three daughters, Sheila Moore-DeLeon of Manchester, Marianne Moore of Glastonbury and her boyfriend, Joseph Conderino of South Windsor, Norine H. Moore of Enfield; her beloved grandchildren, James Moore and his girlfriend, Katie DeNino of South Windsor, Jazmyne DeLeon-Jefferson and Devyn DeLeon both of Manchester, Andrea Mae Falvey of Glastonbury, Bryan Olesen and his wife, Jennifer, and John Olesen, all of Lincoln, NE; her great-grandchildren, Abbie Major, Dejhaia and Jennaleise Jefferson, and Jadyn, Myles, and Liam Olesen. She also leaves many friends and a special neighbor, Patrick. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a grandson-in-law, Derek Jefferson, three siblings, Thomas, Dorothy, and Howard Blythe; and a sweet niece, Joycie Blythe. With all the hardships and challenges she faced in her lifetime, Gladys always maintained a positive outlook, a zest for living, an appreciation for the simple things, and a loving and giving spirit. This will be her enduring legacy to all of us fortunate enough to know her. Mom-Grammy, we love you and will miss you forever. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 6th with a celebration of her life at 7 p.m. at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. For on-line expressions of sympathy to the family please visit www.desopo.com.
