

Gloria LaPenta Camp of Vernon CT, and recently of Naples Florida, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015 with her loving and devoted husband, Michael Camp by her side following a valiant battle with cancer. Gloria was born on February 23, 1946 to Dominic and Antoinette (Cavanna) LaPenta. Gloria spent her youth in East Hartford & Bloomfield, CT, graduating from Bloomfield High school in 1964. In 1967, Gloria married the love of her life, Michael S. Camp and moved to Vernon, CT. Together, they worked hard, raised their son, Steven M. Camp, travelled extensively, enjoyed Atlantic City and Mohegan Sun, were members of CT Labor Dept. bowling league, and most importantly, enjoyed each other's company. Gloria was devoted to Sacred Heart Church Vernon and was a Mortgage Service Specialist at Society for Savings Mortgage Corporation for over twenty years. In May of 2014, Gloria & Michael embarked on a new journey and moved to ""her paradise"", Naples, FL, where she was able to enjoy many beautiful sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico and the home of her dreams. Besides her husband, Gloria is survived by her loving & devoted son, Steven M. Camp and his wife, Heidi of Vernon, CT and her granddaughters, Amy E. Camp & Allison O. Camp who will greatly miss spending time with her playing cards, enjoying her delicious Italian feasts, and most of all, her famous homemade blueberry pies. Gloria is also survived by her brothers, Donald LaPenta, of East Hartford, CT, and Paul LaPenta and his wife, Barbara, of South Windsor, CT, brother and sister in law Peter and Priscilla Bazan, a very special niece Robyn Jones of South Windsor who was a cherished advocate for her health care, and many other nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Maryann Tessier. Gloria was an inspiration to all who knew her because of her compassion and caring for others. She strived for perfection in everything she did and it showed. She cherished family values and lifelong friendships. God bless you Gloria! A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Church 550 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon CT on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11:00 am. Calling hours will be held at the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford CT, on Sunday, October 25, 2015, from 2 pm to 6 pm. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Gloria's family is thankful to the caring oncology staff at Hartford Hospital and Naples FL. Drs.
