

Helen M. (Thorell) Jordan, 90, of Mayberry Village, East Hartford, peacefully passed away on Thursday (February 2, 2012) at the Riverside Health & Rehabilitation Center in East Hartford. Helen was the loving wife of the late Albert T. Jordan and the daughter of the late Carl and Nellie (Day) Thorell. Born in Middletown on May 23, 1921, Helen was raised and grew up in Cromwell, and later moved to East Hartford where she was a resident for the past 65 years in Mayberry Village. A graduate of Middletown High School, Class of 1939, Helen was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a long-time communicant of St. Isaac Jogues Church, East Hartford and was very involved with the Mayberry Village Revitalization Group in East Hartford. Being an avid reader, Helen's greatest asset was her mind. She was always alert and would keep updated on all current events in the news and sports, both locally and nationally. Besides her beloved husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Maureen Tabion of Hawaii; a brother, Carl Thorell, Jr. of Middletown; and a sister, Frances Ouellette of Manchester. Helen is survived by her six caring children, sons, Albert T. ""Lucky"" Jordan, Jr. of East Hartford, Craig M. Jordan and his wife, Christine, of South Windsor, Patrick Jordan and his wife, Marianne, of Manchester; daughters, Linda Cacho of Hawaii, Janet Bernier of East Hartford, Sheila Pelletier and her husband, Dola ""Butch"" Pelletier, of Andover; thirteen special grandchildren; and sixteen adored great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Dotty Rixon of Manchester; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be Friday (February 10) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Isaac Jogues Church, One Community Street, East Hartford. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Friday morning). Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Helen's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday (February 9) from 4-8 p.m. at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Helen's name may be made to the Mayberry Elementary School Student Activity Fund, c/o East Hartford Public Schools Business Dept., 1110 Main Street, East Hartford, CT 06108.
