
Irene J. (Hoinoski) Jordan, 74, of East Hartford, loving wife of fifty years to Richard “Dick” J. Jordan, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 8, 2012 surrounded by her caring family. Born in Hartford on August 27, 1937, a daughter of the late Edward and Ann (Starsiak) Hoinoski, she had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Irene was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1955 and was an avid long-time loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox. Prior to her retirement she was employed for many years as a bank teller at the former Hartford National Bank, Main Street, East Hartford and later worked at The Hartford Insurance Company. A devout Catholic, Irene was an active and faithful communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford where she was involved with Bingo, running the raffle at the annual picnic, and the food baskets for those in need at holidays. Along with her Red Sox, Irene was an avid fan of the UCONN men and women basketball teams. Besides her devoted husband, Irene is survived by her beloved daughter, Catherine M. Jordan of East Hartford; a special uncle, Ernest Starsiak and his wife, Florence, of Manchester; several cousins, and many dear friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Ann Kuczma of East Hartford.
Funeral services will be Monday (March 12th) at 9:30 am from the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Sunday (March 11th) from 3-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Irene’s name may be made to Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Road, East Hartford, CT 06118.
