

Ismael Torres Sanchez, 89, entered into eternal life at home surrounded by his cherished family on May 22, 2025. Born on November 2, 1935, in Juan Diaz Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Matias Torres Rosario and Paula Sanchez Rosario. Ismael was a resident of East Hartford, CT and upstate NY. Prior to retirement, Ismael worked as a machinist at Holo-Krome. In addition, Ismael owned and operated Bar Continental in Newburgh, NY. He was a hard worker who always strived to provide for his family. Ismael was a devout catholic and was a member of St. Mary’s Church of North American Martyrs Parish, East Hartford.
Ismael is survived by his companion Nelsie Santana and his twelve children: Elba Maisonet, Mercedes Torres, Carmen Powell, Lillian Rodriguez, Zelina Rivera, Margarita Pearson, Ismael (Pancho) Torres Jr., Maria Torres, Milagros Torres, Princess Torres, Sandra Rodriguez, and Elizabeth Valle. Along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He has four surviving sisters. Ismael is predeceased by his wife Petronila Torres and his companion Zelina Sanchez along with his parents, four brothers and four sisters. In addition, two grandsons Ismael Torres III, Irwin Rodriguez Jr., and a great-granddaughter Danai Marie Nole.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Church of North American Martyrs Parish, 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford. Burial will follow in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Ismael’s relatives and friends may call at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 4 – 7 pm.
