James “Jim” Bradley, 96, of Glastonbury and formerly of Hartford, died on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born in Hartford on August 2, 1929, the son of the late Robert F. and Annette (Chabaud) Bradley, Sr., he had been a lifelong resident of Hartford prior to moving to Addison Place in Glastonbury in 2020. Jim was a graduate of Bulkeley High School in Hartford, class of 1948. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was employed for 42 years by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company, East Hartford.
A devout catholic, Jim was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church, Glastonbury and formerly of St. Augustine Church in Hartford. He was a talented gardener, and he took great pride in his tulip gardens, which attracted people to drive by his home every year. He also worked at the Glastonbury community garden where he had all kinds of vegetables and flowers. When he had free time, Jim liked to go fishing. He enjoyed bowling with his brother Robert in leagues at Holiday Lanes in Manchester and was an incredible softball player and pitcher. He participated and played until his 60’s in many men’s slow-pitch softball divisions of the Pratt & Whitney league and the town of West Hartford league.
Having the gift to talk to and listen to, Jim truly enjoyed going to Dunkin Donuts in Glastonbury every morning and some late afternoons, along with going to Wendy’s in Rocky Hill for lunch most days during the week. It was at Dunkin and Wendy’s where he had the same group of friends most days discussing the day’s current events. Most of all, Jim was a devoted brother and uncle who was a major part of his brother Robert’s family. He would go over their home often after his day at Pratt for family dinners and help around the house with yard work, chores, and anything else that had to be cleaned in a busy home. He especially loved babysitting and having fun with his nieces and nephews.
Jim is survived by his five special nieces and nephews, Linda Poirer of Colchester, Carolyn Miller and her husband Gary of South Windsor, Jeanne Bellucci of East Hartford, James Bradley and his significant other Margarita Diaz of East Granby, and John Bradley of South Windsor; his five cherished grandnephews and grandnieces, Brett Poirier and his wife Jaclyn, Brian Miller and his wife Lulu, Adam Bell, Julianne Beimler and her husband Matthew, and Ashleigh Gentile; three adored great-grandnieces, Devika Miller, Arietta Miller, and Valerie Beimler; two special friends, Tony Piscatano and Gary Thompson; several cousins; former co-workers; and friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert F. Bradley, Jr. and his wife Jeanette of East Hartford; his niece’s husband, George Bell of Colchester; and nephew’s significant other, Christine of West Hartford.
