James “Jimmy” Michael Peruccio, Jr., 56, of South Windsor, peacefully passed away with his caring family by his side on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Hartford Hospital after a long illness. Born in Manchester on May 12, 1970, a son of the late James M. and Sandra E. (Sacchi) Peruccio, he had resided in East Hartford for many years prior to moving to South Windsor in 2011. Jimmy was a graduate of East Hartford High School, class of 1988 and a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force during Operation Desert Shield/Storm.
A dedicated worker, Jimmy was employed for 28 years as a Letter Carrier in East Hartford for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 2025. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Rev. John A. Fleming Council 2533 in Glastonbury and the American Legion Post #102 in Manchester, where he liked playing cards in their setback league.
Like his older brothers, Jimmy was an athletic individual who liked playing flag football and slow-pitch softball in the East Hartford Men’s leagues. Jimmy was a loyal and avid fan of the Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball team, Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team, and Seattle Seahawks football team and he would often go to watch each team play in person. He was a music lover who enjoyed going to live concerts and he even sang in a local band with his cousin and friends.
Most of all, Jimmy loved his family, especially his two daughters. He always looked forward to their annual summer vacation to Old Orchard Beach, Maine and most recently enjoyed a memorable trip with them to Nassau, Bahamas.
Jimmy is survived by his two adored daughters, Sophia L. Peruccio and Adriana R. Peruccio, both of South Windsor. He also leaves his former wife and friend, Ann-Marie (D’Agata) Peruccio of South Windsor who was his special caregiver; his three brothers, Dino Peruccio and his wife Maureen of Manchester, Edward Peruccio and his wife Margaret of South Windsor, and Thomas Peruccio and his partner Maria of New Britain; a very special aunt, Lenora Jordan and her husband James of East Hartford; three other aunts, Linda Sacchi of East Hartford, Rosalie Peruccio of East Hartford, and Mary Lee Bogovic of Syracuse, Utah; an uncle, Michael T. Peruccio of Coventry; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, former co-workers, and dear friends.
Funeral service celebrating Jimmy’s life will be Saturday morning (October 3rd) at 10 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford.
