Jay M. Price Sr.

Jay Martin Price, Sr., 87, of East Hartford, loving husband for over 66 years to Barbara Jane (Drusbacky) Price, peacefully entered into eternal life on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Salmon Brook Rehab & Nursing Center in Glastonbury. Born in Bradford, PA on July 20, 1936, a son of the late Frederick “Fred” and Pauline (Huff) Price, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 1953. Prior to his retirement, he was a Carpenter for Local 43 in Hartford where he worked on interior construction. He was also the Owner and Operator of the former Jayco Associates of East Hartford.

A devout Catholic, Jay was a longtime faithful communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in East Hartford. He was a talented Ten-Pin bowler who bowled in many leagues in the Greater Hartford area. He was an avid golfer and fan of Tiger Woods; an excellent artist who liked painting landscapes and seascapes; an avid reader and historian; and a fan of the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed traveling, especially on cruise ships and working on home carpentry. Most of all, Jay was a true gentleman and family man who took great pride in keeping an eye on his beloved wife Barbara, his children, and grandchildren.

Along with his devoted wife Barbara, Jay is survived by a daughter, Penny A. Manganello and her husband Mark of Glastonbury; a son, Timothy J. Price of East Hartford; five cherished grandchildren, Jeremy Price of Vernon, Jessica Preston and her wife Mandy of Lutz, FL, Kaitlin Price of East Hartford, Vincent Manganello and his fiancée Sarah D’Attilio of Glastonbury, Dominic Manganello of Glastonbury; and four adored great-grandchildren, Madison Price, Audrina Price, Jackson Booth, and Sophia Manganello. He also leaves a brother, Michael Hayes and his wife Lari Ann of Sunderland, VT; special nephew Tom Morway along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Besides his parents, Jay was predeceased by a son, Jay M. Price, Jr. of Winter Haven, FL; three brothers, Wilford “Willie” Price of Harwinton, Ronad O. Price of Enfield, Richard “Rick” Price of East Hartford; and a sister, Sarah Jean Soutiere of Yukon, OK.

Funeral service will be Friday (January 26th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 am at Our Lady of Peace Church of St. Edmond Campion Parish, 370 May Road, East Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Friday morning. Burial will be at St. Augustine Cemetery, South Glastonbury in the Spring. Jay’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday (January 25th) from 4 – 6 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford.
