

Jean (Patchell) Leavitt, 86, of East Hartford, loving wife for over 65 years of Earle J. Leavitt, Sr., peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014. Born in Smyrna Mills, ME on February 10, 1928, a daughter of the late Manford and Margaret (Grant) Patchell, she had been a resident of East Hartford for over 60 years. Prior to her retirement, Jean was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford for over 40 years. She was a member of the East Hartford Emblem Club and enjoyed knitting, quilting, sewing, and gardening. Most of all, she was a proud and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Besides her beloved husband, Jean is survived by two sons, Earle J. Leavitt, Jr. and his wife, Helena, of Southington, Gary L. Leavitt and his wife, Loretta, of Vernon; a brother, Clair Patchell of Millinocket, ME; a special granddaughter, Amy Leavitt and her husband, Victor, of Rocky Hill; one adored great-granddaughter, Liliana; several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Phyllis and Alice; two brothers, Bart and Manford Jr.
Funeral services will be Tuesday (May 27th) at 11 am at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, (Section E), East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Monday (May 26th) from 6-8 pm.
