Jean (Charamut) Tyburski, 93, of East Hartford, loving wife of 54 years of the late Steven J. Tyburski, peacefully entered into eternal life on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Hartford Hospital. Born in New Britain on September 8, 1932, a daughter of the late Anthony S. and Julia (Molusis) Charamut, she had been a resident of East Hartford since 1954. Jean was a graduate of New Britain High School, class of 1950.
Jean, a devout Catholic, was a faithful communicant of the former Our Lady of Peace Church and St. Christopher Church both in East Hartford where she attended daily mass, served as a Eucharistic Minister and led weekly rosary prayer groups. When illness prevented her from in-person mass, she faithfully watched daily broadcasts on television.
Jean and Steve loved dancing, traveling and attending theater with her brother Bob and sister-in-law Barbara. She enjoyed staying active and until age 91, often walked on her treadmill for over an hour. Jean enjoyed hiking, playing racquetball, golf, bowling and going cross-country skiing with her family, while still finding time to quilt and sew Christmas stockings for all her grandchildren. Jean nurtured her grandchildren’s imaginations through thoughtful gifts of books and board games—a joyful tradition that will be lovingly remembered and carried on by those she held dear.
Jean took great pride in her home and as the family caregiver, caring for her late mother and husband. She also cared for her grandchildren prior to them attending school and became their biggest fan at their sporting events, school concerts, dance recitals and other activities.
Jean will be dearly missed by her surviving children, Cheryl Breindel of Kensington, Linda DeLuca and her husband Nick of Anthem, AZ and Broad Brook, and Thomas Tyburski and his wife Wendy of Berlin. She also leaves her brother, Robert Charamut of Kittery, ME; eight special grandchildren, Jerrica Breindel and her husband Ari Perez, Jay Breindel and his wife Janice, Jared Breindel and his wife Rosie, Kristina Peterssen and her husband Kevin, Michela Perkins and her husband Rob, Lauren Bolduc and her husband Doug, Karlena Tyburski, and Sherilyn Tyburski; nine adored great-grandchildren, Brady, Riley, Landon, Ariana, Reinaldo, Dominic, Leo, Luca, and Clara; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Along with her beloved husband and parents, Jean was predeceased by a son-in-law, Jeffrey G. Breindel of Kensington.
Funeral service will be Monday (September 29th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 am at St. Christopher Church of North American Martyrs Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Monday morning. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, (Section 2), Hebron Avenue/Wickham Drive, Glastonbury. Jean’s family will receive relatives and friends at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Sunday (September 28th) from 4 – 7 pm.
