
John L. Gleason, 78, of East Hartford, loving husband of 53 years to Dorothy (Joanis) Gleason, passed away on Wednesday, (July 29, 2009) at his home. Born in Hartford on November 18, 1930, son of the late Herbert and Elizabeth Gleason. John had resided in East Hartford for the past 50 years. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement John was employed for over 35 years by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Gleason and Charles Gleason; and two sisters, Mary Gleason and Betty Heim all formerly of East Hartford. Along with his beloved wife, Dorothy, John is survived by special caring neighbors, John and Mary Carney of East Hartford; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends. Funeral services will be Monday, August 3, at 9:30 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Mary's Cemetery (Section P), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford.
