Jose L. Neves

Jose “Louie” Neves, 74, of Colchester, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at his home. Born in Portugal on January 14, 1950, a son of the late Jose M. and Ermelinda (Figueiredo) Neves, he grew up in the Hartford area and had been a resident of Colchester for many years. Louie was well known throughout the Portuguese community for his hard work and talent in roofing and siding. An avid outdoorsman, Louie enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing, and traveling throughout the United States. A quiet, private gentleman, Louie was a devoted son, brother, and uncle.

Louie is survived by a sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Cunha and her husband Albert Costa of Windsor Locks; a brother, Paul Neves and his wife Dana of Ellington; his step-mother, Emilia (Silva) Neves of Wethersfield; two nieces, Vanessa Cunha of Windsor Locks and Kate Neves of Ellington; three nephews, Jack Neves and William Neves both of Ellington, and Kevin Cunha of Windsor Locks. He also leaves a close cousin, Mary Knowlen of Cromwell along with other cousins, former customers, and dear friends.

Funeral service will be Thursday (October 24th) at 10:30 am from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Square, 50 Kane Street, Hartford. Inurnment will follow at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Hartford. Louie’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday morning from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Louie’s name may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Square 50 Kane Street Hartford, CT 06106.
