Joseph "Richard" Brookes

Joseph “Richard” Brookes, who lived a full and joyful life, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 12, 1948, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Joseph and Ellen Brookes.

Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Faragalli, who he was especially close with, in 2020.

After growing up in Philadelphia and graduating from La Salle College, he moved to Connecticut, where he raised his family and pursued many diverse careers, including restaurateur, financial advisor, insurance salesman, and luxury car salesman. He was a proud member of the Duck Island Yacht Club and enjoyed sailing with his family along the Connecticut shoreline. He also served as a crew member, helping deliver boats up and down the Eastern Seaboard.

Richard is survived by his children, Richard “Seth” Brookes and his wife, Lyndsay, of Milton, FL; John “Chad” Brookes of East Hampton, CT, with whom he resided; and McKenzie Brookes of East Hartford, CT. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Camden, Adelyn, Gavin, and Nora. In addition, Richard is survived by his nieces, Ellen Marsteller and Angela Noel, and their families.

A celebration of life will be held on September 26, 2025 from 11:00AM to 3:00PM at The Farm At Carter Hill, Marlborough, CT. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street East Hartford, CT has been entrusted with the care of the arrangements.
