

Karen grew up in Hartford, CT and graduated from Weaver High School (Class of 1964). She met the love of her life of 57 years, Maurice “Moe” Demers. Together they settled in East Hartford and raised their son, Mark.
Prior to retirement, Karen worked at the AEFCU.
A devout Catholic, she was a long-time member of the former Our Lady of Peace Church in East Hartford and active in the Social Club.
Above all, Karen was a devoted wife, mother, Nana and a friend to many.
Along with her husband, Karen is survived by a son Mark and grandson Roderick.
She is also survived by five siblings: James Menard, Gerard Menard, Maureen Roberts, Margaret “Maggie” Menard, and Michelle Menard. Karen is predeceased by her brother Francis “Frank” Menard and sister Christine Menard. She is predeceased by her parents, Edgar and Josephine (Popielarczyk) Menard. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Louise Wood, brothers-in-law Dennis Demers and Roger Demers, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
To honor Karen’s steadfast wishes, all funeral services will be private. She will be cremated and interred at the convenience of Maurice and Mark.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Karen’s name to American Cancer Society (specifically bladder cancer) P.O. Box 5025 Wallingford, CT 06492.
The Demers family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all medical professionals, doctors, nurses, aides, and staff at St. Francis Hospital, Floor 8-9, for their caring, compassionate, and professional care of Karen during her time there.
