Kathy was born on February 1, 1946, to Mary “Mae” Ward Murnane. Her father, Lt. Timothy F. Murnane, USAF, died in a military airplane crash on September 1, 1945, several months before Kathy was born. She graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy in West Hartford, class of 1964, and attended Lasell Junior College in Newton, Massachusetts.
Kathy became a certified paralegal at the Hartford College for Women and enjoyed a long career alongside attorney Karl Fleischmann. She began at the law firm of Fleischmann, Sherbacow, McWeeny & Cohn and later continued working with him in his private practice in West Hartford.
Known for her impeccable sense of style, Kathy had a gift for putting herself together with effortless elegance, whether for work, a family gathering, or an evening out.
Kathy's greatest happiness came from spending time with her family and doting on her three grandchildren, who meant everything to her. Her ability to laugh at almost anything was contagious, bringing joy to everyone around her. It was a gift she passed on to her children and one that will continue to live on through them.
More than any title or accomplishment, Kathy will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family.
Kathy was predeceased by her mother, Mary Ward Callahan, and by her brothers, William "Billy" Callahan, Brian Callahan, and Mark Callahan.
She is survived by her daughters, Kerrin Millington and her husband, Robert Millington, and Wendy Lauria; and by her cherished grandchildren, Trevor Millington, Maryn Millington, and Beau Lauria. She is also survived by her siblings Kevin Callahan and his wife, Cheryl; Barry Callahan; Shaun Callahan; Rosemary Scotto and her husband, David; Patricia Scalf and her husband, Carlow; and Michael Callahan and his wife, Nancy; as well as her sisters-in-law, Linda Callahan, Kathleen Hunt, and Katie Callahan. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her warmth and love.
The family is deeply grateful to the many caregivers and healthcare professionals who cared for Kathy with compassion, kindness, and dignity.
