

Kenneth R. Brown, 83, of East Hartford and Lebanon, loving husband for 55 years to the late June (Richardson) Brown, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 21, 2014 with his caring family by his side at a local rehabilitation center. Born in Hartford on July 23, 1931, he had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Kenneth was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he was a personal bodyguard for General Taylor. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 40 years by SNET in Hartford where he retired as a Supervisor. He was a member of the SNET Retirees Club and looked forward to their monthly meetings. He was a former communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford where he volunteered in the kitchen for many years during Bingo. Kenneth enjoyed the sport of Boxing and would frequently visit the Boxing Hall of Fame. He also liked NASCAR racing and recently loved traveling with his family to all the local fairs where he volunteered at the ""Horse-Pulling"" contests. Most of all, Kenneth was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his entire family. Besides his beloved wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Charles Brown, Jr. of East Hartford. Kenneth is survived by his loving daughter, Kim Shuckerow and her partner, Jim Grover, of Lebanon with whom he resided with the past year; three special grandchildren, Kenneth Shuckerow and his partner, Julie Farnsworth, of Willimantic, Jared Shuckerow of Norwich, Wyatt Shuckerow and his partner, Ashley Benton, of Lebanon; three adored great-grandchildren, Isabella, Madisyn, and Peyton. He also leaves a brother, Donald Brown and his wife, Doris, of Rocky Hill; three sisters-in-law, Felice Brown of East Hartford, Fay Menchel and her husband, Seymour ""Sye"" , of Newington, Jeannette Richards of Massachusetts; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday (September 24th) at 11 am at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, (Section 23D), Elm Street, Rocky Hill.
