

Laurette (Jacques) Belanger, 82, of East Hartford, loving wife of 58 years to Jean Luc Belanger, peacefully entered into eternal life with her caring family by her side on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born in St. Luc, Quebec, Canada on June 24, 1932, a daughter of the late Antonio and Mary Ann (LaMontaigne) Jacques, she had been a resident of East Hartford since 1967. A devout Catholic, Laurette was an active communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford where she often volunteered at the church and the church Rectory. She also volunteered at the St. Mary's Church Clothing Bank and was a long-time member of the Immaculate Retreat House in Willimantic where she volunteered many hours with her husband. She was a member of the French Social Circle, East Hartford, the La Rencontre in Bristol, and the Canadian-American Association. Laurette loved cats and was an avid vegetable gardener, but most of all was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a son-in-law, James Fentner of Rocky Hill; a brother, Antonio Jacques and a sister, Rita Samson both of Canada. Along with her beloved husband, Laurette is survived by two sons, Jacques Belanger of East Hartford with whom she resided, Paul Belanger and his wife, Anne, of East Hartford; two daughters, Lise Fentner of Rocky Hill, Renee Viens and her husband, Donald, of East Hartford; two adored granddaughters, Rebecca Belanger and Samantha Belanger both of East Hartford. She also leaves three brothers, Laurent Jacques and his wife, Alexis, of Canada, Germaine Jacques of Canada, Conrad Jacques of Texas; three sisters, Cedulie LaRochelle and her husband, Josephat, Aurore Rancourt, and Mary Ann Jacques all of Canada; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be Monday (August 18th) at 11 am from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 12 Noon at St. Christopher Church, East Hartford. Entombment will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Mausoleum, Bloomfield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Sunday (August 17th) from 3-6 pm.
