
Lawrence “Larry” W. Sawyer, 91, of East Hartford, loving husband of 68 years to Beverly (Harmon) Sawyer, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at his home with family by his side. Born in Bar Harbor, ME on January 14, 1934, a son of the late Frederick W. and Frances (King) Sawyer, he had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 68 years. Larry was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he was a member of the 11th Airborne Division. Prior to his retirement, Larry was a truck driver for Consolidated Freight Company, Windsor Locks for 30 years. He was also a member of the Teamsters Local 671, Bloomfield for over 60 years. Larry was an avid fan of the UConn Women’s Basketball team and NASCAR racing. Most of all, Larry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished spending time with his entire family.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his three beloved daughters, Lynne A. Murray and her significant other Stephen Caley of Clinton, MA, Rhonda L. Sawyer of Portland, Lori J. Genovesi of East Hartford with whom he made his home; six special grandchildren, Jaymee McLinskey and her husband Matt, Jennifer Vallera, Kimberly Brockett and her husband Chris, Ryan DiNardo, Adam Murray, Thomas Murray; and nine adored great-grandchildren, Harper, Jaxon, Teagan, Dallas, Anabella, McKenzie, Austin, Mila, and Leai. He also leaves two stepbrothers, Peter Sawyer and his wife Donna of Cape Cod, MA, Fred Sawyer and his wife Philomena of Glastonbury; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be Wednesday (October 1st) at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford commencing with calling hours from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm followed by prayer service at 12:30 pm at the funeral home chapel.
